چکیده

In a coordination cage which contains an array of twelve naphthyl chromophores surrounding a central cavity, photoinduced energy or electron-transfer can occur from the chromophore array to the bound guest in supramolecular host/guest complexes.

Supramolecular Ga4L6(12-) Cage Photosensitizes 1,3-Rearrangement of Encapsulated Guest via Photoinduced Electron Transfer.

The K12Ga4L6 supramolecular cage is photoactive and enables an unprecedented photoreaction not observed in bulk solution. Ga4L6(12-) cages photosensitize the 1,3-rearrangement of encapsulated cinnamylammonium cation guests from the linear isomer to the higher energy branched isomer when irradiated with UVA light. The rearrangement requires light and guest encapsulation to occur. The Ga4L6(12-) ...

Selective Co‐Encapsulation Inside an M6L4 Cage

There is broad interest in molecular encapsulation as such systems can be utilized to stabilize guests, facilitate reactions inside a cavity, or give rise to energy-transfer processes in a confined space. Detailed understanding of encapsulation events is required to facilitate functional molecular encapsulation. In this contribution, it is demonstrated that Ir and Rh-Cp-type metal complexes can...

Tuning of the Photoinduced Charge Transfer Process in Donor- Acceptor “Double Cable” Copolymers

The covalent linking of acceptor molecules to electron donating conjugated polymer is an approach for the development of new photoactive materials for the fabrication of organic photoelectric conversion devices. With this strategy we have designed a polyalkylthiophene copolymer series containing in the side chain anthraquinone molecules as electron acceptor. The peculiar features of the copolym...

Self-assembly of double-decker cages induced by coordination of perylene bisimide with a trimeric Zn porphyrin: study of the electron transfer dynamics between the two photoactive components.

We describe the thermodynamic characterization of the assembly process of a covalently connected trimeric Zn porphyrin induced by coordination to a bispyridyl functionalized perylene bisimide . The perylene bisimide ligands act as pillars via two axial coordination bonds with the porphyrinic Zn(ii) ions fixing the planes of the porphyrin units in a nearly co-facial orientation and inducing the ...

pH-Controlled selection between one of three guests from a mixture using a coordination cage host

We demonstrate the use of a simple pH swing to control the selection of one of three different guests from aqueous solution by a coordination cage host. Switching between different guests is based on the fact that neutral organic guests bind strongly in the cage due to the hydrophobic effect, but for acidic or basic guests, the charged (protonated or deprotonated) forms are hydrophilic and do n...
